About 2 weeks ago, it was reported that NGO, Gerakan Pengundi Sedar (GPS), had started an online petition to urge Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Tiong King Sing, to resign for various reasons.

It appears that the Minister has finally responded.

According to a report by Astro Awani, Tiong, in response to the call for his resignation, said that he cannot please everyone but is open to suggestions on how he and his Ministry can improve as individuals and as an industry.

Tiong 2

“It’s normal. We cannot satisfy everyone. They asked me to resign, what did I do wrong?”

“I look forward to Parliamentary sessions. You (must) give me something, you know? Valuable information, and good suggestions, for good transformations. Tell me, explain it to me, where my weaknesses are so that I can make improvements.

This also comes after several opposition politicians also called for Tiong to resign.

In terms of the multilingual signboards issue, Tiong ultimately doubled down on his stance that signboards should have multiple languages for the comfort of foreign tourists.
