All this while, we believe that DBKL is an entity that takes care of the city by ensuring it is clean and orderly.

However, we recently chanced upon a Facebook post by DBKL that talks about how they patrol the rivers as well!

In the post, they say: “You might not know, but DBKL patrols the rivers that run through our city.”

They continued and said that one such occasion was when the rescue squad from the DBKL Enforcement Department patrolled the area near River of Life from the DBKL 1 Tower to PWTC.

“This patrol is to see the water level of the river and to check whether there is any rubbish or activities along the riverside.”

Following that, they stated that they patrol on land and on water too and they are committed to matters regarding the city.

After seeing this, many netizens suggested that the river can be a tourist attraction which might help to generate more income.

“DBKL can consider making river boats as part of the public transportation system. It can be a tourist attraction as well,” said one netizen.

Other netizens said that it will be similar to the Malacca river and are supportive of the idea as it can ideally lessen traffic congestion.

However, one netizen pointed out that it is easier for flash floods to happen in KL, which is why a large amount is needed as an investment to make riverboats a thing.

We learned something new today and we do think that riverboats may not be that bad of an idea! What do you think?
