Supporters of Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor on Thursday paid an emotional tribute to emergency rescue workers from Malaysia and other countries following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Tukiye and Syria. Prior to the kickoff of the football club’s Conference League match with Swiss club Basel at Akyazi Arena, Trabzonspor supporters unveiled a massive tifo depicting an image of an emergency worker rescuing a baby from the rubble.

As reported by The Daily Mail, the touching choreography also features a brave Mexican rescue dog called Proteo who unfortunately died while performing its rescue duties. Moreover, the tifo showed a defiant fist rising through the rubble while holding a Turkish flag, while the helmet of the emergency rescue worker depicts flags of all the nations that have lended a hand in the rescue operations.

A video of the tifo was shared on the r/soccer subreddit or Reddit and you can watch it below:

Among the flags that were depicted on the helmet include Malaysia, South Korea, India, France, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Czechia, Romania, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, China, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Spain, Greece, Poland, Ukraine, Austria, Albania, Japan, Russia, Italy, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, Portugal, UK and Netherlands. VIRA, the Trabzonspor Fan group which made the choreography in very limited time also elaborated that there were other national flags that they missed putting on the tifo such as Mexico and apologised for the matter.

What a moving tribute! Our thoughts and condolences are with the people of Turkiye and Syria. Let’s hope the rescue operations will be successful and that both nations can recover from this devastating tragedy.
