If you go to the KL area daily or have visited it in the past week, you would have noticed that there are a lot of police personnel on the road.

On 7 July, Berita Harian shared a 17-second video on their Twitter page. This video shows a car that stopped in the motorcycle zone in front of a traffic light.

At the start of the video, we can see that there are 2 officers in white there. One of them is next to the car which stopped on the red motorcycle zone and another officer is next to a motorcyclist who had exceeded the white line.

It seems that both of the road users were fined by the police.

Many netizens were supportive of this.

“It’s good that there is a motorcycle zone,” said one netizen. Another netizen added, “Yes please fine them. These cars stop everywhere at the traffic light and it makes it hard for pedestrians to cross the road.”

This is part of OP Hormat Undang-undang Jalan Raya Polis KL which will be in effect from 1 till 31 July. This operation is conducted on major roads and the police will be on the lookout for any wrongdoings done by road users.

Judging by how people usually drive in the city centre, this operation will certainly keep them on their toes.
