On the very first day of the Conditional Movement Control Order, businesses that have been allowed to operate are gradually beginning to accept customers. However of course, this is being done with utmost care and adherence to the current MCO regulations, which stipulate strict conditions that these businesses must follow to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Malaysia.

But much as Malaysians have been advised to keep to the ‘new normal’ and practice habits such as good hygiene, wearing face-masks and above all, social distancing, recent photos that have went viral over social media indicate otherwise. In two separate locations, Kenanga Wholesale City and Low Yat Plaza respectively, people can be seen lining up outside building premises to await entry.

In Kenaga Wholesale City’s case, a Facebook netizen has shared photos of incredibly long lines, showing how people are waiting outside the famous wholesale mall. While WORLD OF BUZZ has reached out to the mall’s management for comment, Astro Awani reporters who were at the scene managed to find out that the crowds were not due to shoppers waiting to get in.

On the contrary, mall staff who were interviewed explained that the people seen waiting outside were in fact staff members and employees who worked in some 800 different offices and businesses that operate in the wholesale mall.

The long queues were attributed to the mall’s stringent temperature screenings and recording of details for everyone who entered the mall today.

Regardless of which, it should be reminded that CMCO does not mean that our MCO has been lifted completely! So be sure that you abide by social distancing measures, maintain good hygiene at all times, and try to avoid going out unless you absolutely have to!

What do you guys think of this situation?
