According to a report by Harian Metro, the Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob, shared that initial investigations found the incident to have stemmed from a disagreement between the suspect group and the victims while they were having fun.

“So far, 4 local men have been arrested today (January 30), to assist in the investigation. A remand application for all suspects will be made today,” he added.
