Wagyu beef is undoubtedly enjoyed by people worldwide. This ‘super beef’ is recognized for its marbled appearance and exceptional tenderness, it literally melts in your mouth. So, it’s understandable why people are so crazy about it, and this guy is no exception…

According to Harian Metro, Chong Kin Young, a 48-year-old, is facing charges for stealing a range of items. These include one beef sausage, Wagyu beef, pickled jellyfish, clam filling, maruchan sauce, and two alcoholic beverages.

Apart from the Wagyu beef, the remaining stolen items belonged to Pan Pacific Retail Management Sdn Bhd. These items were stored in a building within the Lot 10 shopping center at 4pm.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal requested a suitable punishment for the accused, considering the man’s previous criminal record.

However, the lawyer Simret Bedh Singh Sharma from Yayasan Bantuan Guman Kebangsaan (YBGK), representing the accused, asked for a lenient sentence, citing the man’s unemployment and responsibility for a 21-year-old child.

Chong faced charges under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which comes with a maximum prison sentence of seven years, a fine, and the possibility of whipping for second and subsequent offenses.

“This is the accused’s first offence, so I request the minimum prison sentence be considered.”

Upon hearing the argument, Nadia Eleena countered the lawyer’s claim and affirmed that the accused has a history of past criminal records involving various offenses.

The court directed him to commence his three-month jail term from the date of his arrest.
