Tun Mahathir, who’s also known as the Asian Tiger, enjoys great respect from leaders across the world, and this is particularly evident when he received a grand send-off during his recent visit to Japan.

A two-minute video was recorded showing Tun Mahathir and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah at the lobby preparing to get into their vehicle and leave for the airport. Heartwarmingly, the hotel staff – from the management team to kitchen staff – were seen lining up and clapping non-stop to show their admiration towards Tun Mahathir.

Here’s the video.

They waved and saluted Tun Mahathir as the 92-year-old leader gracefully stepped into his vehicle. That shows just how respectable Tun M is in the eyes of foreigners.

The trip to the land of the rising sun lasted three days from 10 to 12 June and it was his first abroad trip as the seventh prime minister of Malaysia. There, he had a fruitful talk with Japan’s prime minister Shinzō Abe where a request for credit yen was made.

Also, Tun Mahathir urged fellow Malaysians to look up to the Japanese people and emulate their work ethics and values when it comes to completing a task. No more ‘tidak apa’ attitude guys.

As the saying goes, you can’t demand respect, you have to earn it, and Tun Mahathir has definitely earned everyone’s respect. Kipidap Tun!
