Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has teased potential toll rebates for road users in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Confirming that there will indeed be some “good news” for those intending to ‘balik kampung’ or go back to their hometown this festive season, Loke stopped short of revealing the details of the announcement.

Instead, the Transport Minister said that he doesn’t have the mandate to announce the toll rebates, as it lies with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim or Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

As reported by the Malaysia Gazette, Loke was quoted as saying,

“The announcement will be made by the Prime Minister and of course, there will be good news for road users but not from me, I don’t have the mandate to announce the matter,”
