Child adoption is a life-long affair, which is why most parents would do a detailed background check on the babies before signing the documents, but not these particular parents.

According to China Press, as reported by The Straits Times, Dickson Lim and Allison Chong have adopted four babies in the span of nine years and not once did they request to see the babies’ pictures before the adoption.

In fact, the Singaporean couple specifically told their adoption agent that they would adopt any baby unconditionally. All they need is a baby who is in need of a home. Aww, bless their kind souls!

The agent who has been in this field for 30 years said that it is extremely rare to meet couples like Dickson and Allison. That’s because most parents would choose babies that have a certain physical resemblance to them while others would check whether the babies have any disability or disease. Some would even inquire about the biological parents’ education level prior to the adoption.

Normally, parents seeking for adoption would spend a few days looking at the babies’ photos before making up their mind, which is understandable because an adoption in Singapore would cost the adoptive parents about SGD30,000 (approx. RM90,000). Yup, not cheap to have kids okay!

What warms our heart, even more, is the fact that Dickson and his wife see their children as gifts and accept them as they are. Out of the four adopted children, three of them need special care; despite this, the family does not regret their decisions at all.

Their first adoption took place in 2009 when the agent informed them about a baby girl from an impoverished family who was up for adoption. Allison took a glance at the 53-day-old baby and started weeping, and that’s how the baby girl became the couple’s first daughter.

After a year, they decided to adopt another baby so that the eldest daughter can have someone to play with. The loving couple then adopted another two babies afterwards, filling their house with the laughter of two sons and two daughters.

If we’re honest, these four babies are extremely lucky considering only 10 babies are adopted each year on average in Singapore. Hopefully, this couple’s inspiring story can inspire more people to follow suit.

Would you opt for adoption too when you’re ready to have kids? Tell us in the comments!
