While Malaysians are still waiting for the official announcement on whether Aidilfitri will be celebrated tomorrow (21 April) or on Saturday (22 April), this particular village in Indonesia has already celebrated Hari Raya today!

In fact, all of Indonesia except for the Panggan village of Aolia in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta are also like Malaysia and still waiting for official confirmation on whether Aidilfitri is tomorrow or Saturday.

As reported by the Indonesian news portal Kompas, the Muslim congregation in the village performed the Eid prayers at the Masjid Aolio earlier today.

Hundreds of locals attend the prayers, filling every space of the mosque. According to locals, other villages within the Panggang subdistrict of the Special Region of Yogyakarta are also celebrating Aidilfitri today.

In the local Dusun Warak area itself, around 350 people will be celebrating Hari Raya. Furthermore, several mosques in Panggang held Eid prayers today, including Masjid Aolia Panggang 3, Masjid Almaunah in Padukuhan Banyumeneng 1 and Masjid Albarokah in Padukuhan Banyumeneng 2.

It is to be noted that the congregations also started fasting one day earlier than the rest of us, hence why they celebrated Hari Raya also a day earlier.

Well, for all of you Muslims out there, we would like to wish you Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, regardless of when you’ll be celebrating it! <3
