The first elephant sanctuary in Southern Thailand, the Samui Elephant Sanctuary promotes a sustainable and ethical way of treating these gentle giants; the way it should always be!

What to expect:

  • Most of the elephants were part of the archaic Thailand logging and tourism industries.
  • In a way, this is their retirement home after being rescued from the harsh treatments from these industries.
  • The awesome guides will be showing you through the sanctuary with an in-depth insight into the behaviour and personal history of every elephant there!
  • Riding these elephants is strictly not allowed but you can take part in bathing and hand-feeding them.
  • The sanctuary also provides a free photography service whereby you can access your photos via a Dropbox link on their Facebook page.

One of the must-visit places in Koh Samui, Bophut Beach still retains its original charm and natural beauty thanks to great preservation efforts by the locals!

What to expect:

  • Divided into two parts, Bophut Beach consists of a long beach and a street marketplace and shops area called the Fisherman’s Village.
  • The area used to be mainly populated by fishermen, hence the name.
  • Bophut Beach also used to be a major outpost for colonial France and you can still see their influence in the architecture of the buildings there.
  • While many come here to enjoy the fantastic views from the beach, most come to do one thing; shopping!
  • The walking street market of Fisherman’s Village is arguably the best street market in the whole island of Koh Samui.
  • With tonnes of shops selling Thai food, clothing, souvenirs and more, there’s literally something for everyone here!
