Netflix is not very well-known for its action movies. Previously, the ones produced by Netflix are just meh. However, an action movie that was recently released on the platform has managed to garner rave reviews with fans demanding for a sequel. Yes, we are talking about “Extraction” and yes, we’re pretty sure you’ve heard of it or have probably watched the movie by now.

The movie was exhilarating but what excites Malaysians the most was the sight of a lot of our Proton cars in the movie. From Satria Neo to the infamous Savvy, these Proton legendary cars are placed throughout the movie’s high octane action scenes. But one does wonder, why are there so many Proton cars that can be seen in the movie? Well, our friends at SoyaCincau reached out to Sam Hargrave, the Extraction movie director himself and here’s what he had to say,

“During our scouts to Dhaka, Bangladesh and all throughout India, we saw many Proton cars on the streets. In order to be as authentic as possible, we wanted to make sure and have Proton cars displayed throughout the film. There were even some Police vehicles in Dhaka, Bangladesh that were made by Proton. So we wanted to be authentic to that as well. So it was all about trying to be as truthful and authentic to the region as possible.”

So there you go. Although Chris Hemsworth did not manage to get behind the steering wheel of a Proton during any of the action scenes in the movie, we are still proud to know that these cars are tough enough to be part of by far, the best action movie produced by Netflix.

If you have not watched the movie yet, what are you waiting for? Put some time aside tonight and enjoy “Extraction” on Netflix!
