The 2nd Annual O-Zone Games Happened On Merdeka Weekend & It Was a Huge Success!

Obstacle sports enthusiast across multiple nations put their strength and skill to the test to be the ninja warrior champion at the 2nd annual O-Zone Games held over the Merdeka weekend from 31st August – 3rd Sept 2023.

Sanctioned by the Malaysian Obstacle Race Sports Association (MORSA) and approved by the National Sports Council, this event was co-organized by the MORSA, Pavilion Bukit Jalil and Ozone Fitness. This event was open to participants around the world and divided into three categories which are U-18, Rookie and Open who will compete for a share of more than RM 10,000 in Cash Prizes.

The four-day competition featured a diverse range of 600 local and international participants from 15 countries, with the intention to compete in the sport. International participant includes Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Guam, India, Indonesia and many more.

The competition consists of 3 stages with the Top 15 participants from Stage 1 qualifying for Stage 2, while only the top 5 from Stage 2 would qualify for Stage 3, battling to earn their spots on the podium. Participants are ranked based on the participant with the most obstacles completed in the fastest time.

Each stage of the competition consists of a different strategy for the participants with the goal of accumulating as many points as possible to proceed to the next stage. There were more than 30 obstacles that were designed to test participants to their limit.

The Open Group participant, Mr. Deren Perez who competed several times in the world-famous Television Show – American Ninja Warrior displayed an impressive performance from several players around the world. Being the only participant to complete the course with a perfect score!

With the recent success of obstacle sports performance during the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia (1 Silver and 3 Bronze), O-Zone Games has further brought obstacle sports to the public during this 4-day event. Aligned with the visioned development program by MORSA, the event has shown vast interest among individuals of all ages. Children, adults and even retired senior citizens attempted to overcome the obstacles during the event. With all smiles and sweat, people were thrilled to see the obstacle course built right at the Centre Court of Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
