“Thank you, hooman”: 5 Signs Your Pet is Living Their Best Life & How M’sians Can Help Keep It That Way!

Very few things beat the joy of seeing your pet truly happy, kan? From the tail wags and playful sprints to the quiet cuddles. So, as pet parents, we do everything we can to ensure our furry friends feel safe, loved and healthy. But how can we tell if they’re thriving?

The good news is that pets do show us. From their behaviour to their appearance, there are small but meaningful signs that let us know they’re living their best lives.

Here are five tell-tale signs from Royal Canin that your pet is not just living their life but flourishing, along with a few simple ways you can help maintain their happiness:

1. They greet you with enthusiasm

Whether it’s a wagging tail, happy bark, excited zoomies or a gentle purr and head bump, the way your pet greets you says a lot about how they’re feeling. These cute welcome rituals are their way of saying, “Welcome home!”

It’s a clear sign they feel safe, bonded and emotionally secure. When pets are consistently affectionate and excited to see you, it means you’ve created a space where they feel loved, and that’s a special achievement.

2. Their coat is glossy, and their skin is healthy

Their coats are more than just for you to stroke – it’s an indicator of your pet’s health! Healthy skin and fur usually mean your pet is getting the nutrients they need to thrive, especially from omega fatty acids and quality proteins.

If their coat starts to look dull, flaky, or they’re scratching more than usual, it might be time to take a closer look at their nutrition, grooming routine, or environment. When your pet glows, it often means they’re flourishing from the inside out.

3. They’re playful and curious

A playful pet is a happy pet! Whether they’re chasing a toy, exploring new corners, or simply rolling around with glee, an active, curious pet shows strong physical health and mental well-being.

Even senior pets should still show signs of engagement and interest in their surroundings – they might be a bit slow at it, but the spark should still be there. Encouraging regular playtime helps keep that joy alive and strengthens your bond, too.

4. Their poo is consistent

It’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it – checking your pet’s poop, we mean! Healthy stools are clearly defined in shape with visible cracks that leave very little residue on the ground when picked up, signalling a healthy digestive tract.

If their poo is soft, overly smelly, crumbly, or inconsistent, it could mean digestion issues. That’s where highly digestible proteins help – these are quality proteins that are easy for your pet’s body to absorb, supporting better gut health and more consistent stools.

While occasional changes are normal, persistent issues should be checked with a vet. In many cases, the right diet makes a big difference for both your pet and your clean-up routine!

5. They eat well but not too much

A healthy appetite is important for both us and our pets. But getting pets to eat well doesn’t just hinge on them having a good appetite – it’s about serving meals that are balanced, complete and suited to their unique needs.

It’s also important to remember that overfeeding, even with the best intentions, can lead to health issues. Over 50% of pets globally are overweight, often due to the idea that more food equals better care or value. But when portioned correctly, quality diets like Royal Canin can cost as little as RM2.30 per serving. The feeding guidelines on the pack make it easy to get the right amount!

Fun fact about that – don’t be surprised if you spot some Korean text on the label. Royal Canin has recently expanded its sourcing from the South Korea facility. It’s still the same expert nutrition pets know and love, just with a refreshed look and feel!

Now with Super Value TwinPack promos for cats – like Royal Canin Kitten, Indoor, and Feline Care: Hair & Skin (0.4kg x2) – you get great value without compromising on the taste or nutrition your furry felines are used to with Royal Canin!

Pets are part of the family! When they thrive, so do our lives with the joy, laughter and companionship they bring. By paying attention to these five simple signs, we can better understand what our pets are feeling and give them the best care possible. From a glossy coat to a curious nose, every little sign tells a big story about how well your pet is doing.

And with the right mix of love, play, attention, and nutrition, we can help them keep living their happiest, healthiest life every single day.
