They say simple and classic pranks are the best. We agree.
Facebook page Salam Perantuan 2016 on Friday uploaded a photo of a newspaper clipping – said to be from local newspaper Berita Harian – showing a group of students chilling on a lawn with a special Hari Raya greeting.
The caption read:
“Ramadan greetings and wishes from all of us medical students at Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, USA. We would like to wish our family, relatives and all our friends since our school days a happy fasting month. We hope to meet you during this festive season,”
Did you spot the troll?
The school these Malaysian boys claim they are from, “Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters”, is actually a fictional school from the comic series X-Men, founded by Professor Charles Xavier!
You know, X-Men? Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Mageneto?? X-Men of days future past?
The funny thing is, the group of students managed to slip this prank into a local paper.
What’s more, the same picture appeared on their ‘special Salam Aidilfitri website’ where overseas readers get to submit photos and Hari Raya greetings online!
Malaysians who stumbled across the post laughed together with these trolls for their ingenious plan. Some even commented, “When’s the Malaysians from Hogwarts going to send their regards?”
You gotta give it to these young men – you have to be somewhat gifted to pull of such a prank so subtly! Local cinemas or X-Men should probably think about sponsoring them!
