Worst case scenario: They turn into vegans

This happened in a school in Batu Caves. Apparently the school took several Muslim Year 6 students to participate in an Islamic sembelih of around 70 quailsThis was during class hours as well!

This slaughter was apparently approved by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Or PIBG, if you will.

It is confirmed that the exercise was conducted to “educate students on the proper way of slaughtering animals” in accordance with Islamic laws.

The 12-year old kids had to endure the gory blood-spills and was also made to take part in a ritual bath – a mandatory act after sexual intercourse or ejaculation.

When the kids went home, they obviously told their parents who were up in arms over this incident. There are now calls for the Education Ministry to intervene.

“I want to know what the school was trying to achieve by having the gruesome event in the school. Were guidelines followed to ensure the slaughtering exercise was hygienic or even halal?”

“What was the school management trying to prove, by getting a bunch of 12-year-old children to slaughter live animals?”

There was a case back in Oct 2010, where a school in Puchong slaughtered a cow. That time, the ministry has ruled that ‘korban‘ is not permitted in schools.

So was this just blown out of water or do you think the school shouldn’t have let the young kids participate in such acts? Send us your thoughts in the comments!
