It’s pretty obvious that many Malaysians are overjoyed with the switch of government and the epic comeback of Tun Mahathir as the seventh prime minister. Yep, history was definitely made on 9 May 2018!

Since their big win, many well-wishers have reportedly been sending our beloved Tun M and Tun Siti Hasmah congratulatory gifts. However, as much as Tun Siti appreciates the gifts, she really wants all their well-wishers to stop sending them things, reported The Malay Mail.

Today (23 May 2018) her daughter, Datin Marina Mahathir, took to Facebook to alert their well-wishers of her mum’s request.

According to Marina, her mum is finding it difficult to store the gifts at home and also stated that the Pakatan Harapan policy is that no politician can receive gifts besides flowers or food. She wrote,

“She has asked me to request that there be no more gifts sent because one, the rule in the Pakatan Harapan government is that no politician is allowed to receive any gifts other than flowers or food, and two, as modest as the gifts might be, they do take up a lot of space.”

“My parents are not moving into Sri Perdana but instead are going to continue living at their own home. It’s comfortable but really does not have space for any more stuff.”

You heard her, guys. Stop sending gifts as it’s not in their policy. Plus, they have no more place left!

Marina also added that Tun Siti is conscious of the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri but insisted that the gifting must cease. She continued,

“So, she seeks your understanding to please not send anything to her, even though Raya is coming. Instead, she requests that you please make donations to any charity of your choice. That would please her very much.”

“Thank you!”

So, Tun Siti would really appreciate it if Malaysians would quit sending congratulatory gifts to respect PH’s policy. Thus, like she suggested, make donations to charity instead!
