It is pretty well known by now that the world is currently facing its biggest pandemic since the black plague. However, unlike those who experienced the black plague, we are actually blessed with the gift of knowledge and technology so that we can deal with the spread of Covid-19 better. Even if we are under house quarantine, we can still be connected to the outside world and even get our necessities delivered to us.
With that said, should a person reveal that he or she is currently being quarantined at home because of Covid-19 to the online delivery services? Surely in dire times like this, there will be a spike in the use of online delivery services and those abang delivery will be at risk of being exposed.
As reported by The Star, the majority of online delivery services at the moment do not require their customers to reveal that they are currently being quarantined at home. However, companies like HappyFresh do require their riders to follow an SOP which requires the rider to leave the delivery bag one meter from the front door if the customer revealed that he or she is under house quarantine. Managing director of HappyFresh Hu Hun Hui explained,
“Our riders are equipped with masks and hand sanitisers to provide a safe shopping experience.”
Generally, companies like Foodpanda, Grab, and MyGroser has taken the initiative to remind their riders to practice good hygiene like wearing a mask, gloves and using hand sanitizers. So if you are currently being quarantined at home, it is not compulsory for you to reveal your situation. However, just like the riders who have prepped themselves for any circumstances, you should also limit the risk of potentially spreading the virus by practicing caution during the interaction.
