A sharing by a Malaysian woman struck a chord with netizens recently after she revealed how her sister-in-law who’s always mean and talks bad about her suddenly treats her nicely.

Shared anonymously to the Muflis Bankrupt di Malaysia Facebook public group, the woman revealed the rather mischievous reason behind her sister-in-law’s change in demeanour to her.

The post asserted that in the past, her sisters-in-law had always been mean to her, with 1 particular incident that’s always fresh in her mind.

She said that when her husband bought the couple’s current home, a sister-in-law protested because the husband registered the purchase under the woman’s name rather than her parents-in-law’s.

The woman shared,

“My sister-in-law questioned why my husband didn’t put the house under his parents. She protested putting it under my name as I’m just a wife.

“If anything happened to my husband, I can already see how they’ll evict me. I don’t know. Until today, I’m still offended by my sister-in-law’s words. But when we meet, I’ll treat them nicely.”

The sister-in-law wants to use the woman’s name to apply for a house loan

Now, her sister-in-law is suddenly treating her nicely because she wants to use the woman’s name to apply for the Government’s Rumah Mesra Rakyat programme.

In case you’re not familiar, the programme provides loans and a subsidy of up to RM20,000 to eligible individuals planning to build a home on private land.

The woman rejects this as she’s sensitive about the subject and knows that the sister-in-law is just using her.

She asserted,

“Don’t think just because I’m a housewife you can simply take advantage of me,”

However, the sister-in-law is still not giving up and until today, she’s treating the woman nicely and trying to persuade her to apply for the programme under her name.

If she agrees, the home will be built on the sister-in-law’s land and the sister-in-law will be living in it.

The woman then sought advice from members of the Facebook group on how to handle the situation.

Malaysians resoundingly urge the woman to reject the sister-in-law’s request

In the comments section, the unanimous comments were Malaysians urging the woman to stay resolute and reject the sister-in-law’s persuasion.

One commenter advised the woman not to do something crazy such as letting the sister-in-law use her name to build the home. She added that it won’t be a loss for the woman to cut ties with such a toxic individual.

Meanwhile, another commenter said that the fact that the sister-in-law wanted to use her name means that she can’t afford to apply for the loan herself.

Hence, she shouldn’t entertain the request as if the sister-in-law couldn’t pay the loan in the future, the one that will be in trouble is the woman and not her sister-in-law.

So, what do you guys think of the whole situation? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
