Previously, a shooting went down at a shopping mall in Setia Alam, Shah Alam, around 10 PM, throwing the place into chaos and leaving a foreign cleaner injured.

Right after, Selangor District Police launched a statewide hunt for the gunman, with their investigations pointing to the suspect still being in Selangor.

Suspect was shot dead

In an update today, it was revealed that the suspect, a man in his 30s, was tracked down and shot dead by the police in Pulau Ketam, South Klang, at around 3 AM.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said there was a shootout between the suspect and the police inside a hotel room.

“The police managed to take down the suspect. We also found 2 loaded firearms on him,” he said.

A background check showed the suspect had 9 past criminal records, including 1 drug case and 7 robbery cases. He was also believed to be behind the recent shooting at Setia Alam mall.

A cleaning worker was shot at a mall

On February 8, a cleaning worker was shot and injured by a man in a shocking incident.

At around 10:50 PM, the suspect opened fire while the worker was storing cleaning equipment, hitting him 4 times in the legs and buttocks. He then pointed his gun at another witness and forced them to escort him out of the mall.

After that, he hijacked a visitor’s car, held the driver at gunpoint, and made them drive him out of Shah Alam. He later ordered the driver to stop by the highway before escaping.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain earlier revealed that the suspect fired his gun out of anger as the cleaning worker asked him to move his belongings.
