Despite the smoking ban at all eateries has been enforced since 2019, many Malaysians are still largely ignoring the prohibition and continue to smoke at open-air restaurants.

In fact, there was even a recent viral incident of a smoker getting mad at someone who reminded him of the smoking ban while the former was smoking at a Mamak restaurant.

Now, another video recorded at a Mamak restaurant has gone viral, which showed a man smoking without a care in the world while hanging out with his friends.

Originally shared by Facebook user Siti Maisarah on the platform, photos and a video of the man have been circulating on social media, most notably being reposted by Malaysia Most Viral on Twitter.

According to the original post, the incident allegedly took place at a Mamak restaurant in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam during lunchtime.

Moreover, a closer look at the photos and video showed that the man is potentially a civil servant, based on the shirt he was wearing which brandishes the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) logo on it.

In the original post, Siti Maisarah urged JBPM to investigate the matter and take action against the man should he in fact be a civil servant under the federal agency.

Reacting to the post, many netizens condemn the man’s actions. One commenter wasn’t mincing her words and referred to people smoking at eateries as ‘brainless’.

Meanwhile, another commenter said that the man in the video is the hardest to reprimand as he is already an elderly man that won’t listen to advice.

Besides that, one netizen asserted that those that smoke at eateries, especially when they’re near toddlers or babies are the most inconsiderate, ignorant and selfish people in the world.
