If you’re living in a flat, sometimes not every decision is in your hands as your actions may affect the community that lives in the area.

Recently, Twitter page Twt_Bajet shared an image of a unit at a flat in Wangsa Maju, KL which showed the outside of the unit being “covered” with grill doors that has apparently blocked the walkway from both sides.

This means the owners of the units at the other end may have to take a slightly longer route to reach their homes as the pathway at the common area has been blocked by the unit owner’s grill doors.

“If you’re a B40, then behave like a B40”

The image has since gone viral on social media and netizens have had a lot to say about what they have just seen.

As expected, the decision of the owner to put up the grill doors drew criticism due to the trouble which it may cause in the future, thanks to it.

“What if there’s a fire? Where do you run when the common area has been blocked like this and the owner happens to be not at home,” commented a user.

Another netizen said, “Agreed. Please don’t be selfish. If you’re living in a B40 area, then behave like a B40. It’s okay if you’re poor but don’t be lacking in common sense.”

“So what if 10 houses on the same row do the same thing? Where do they exit? Just jump down the building?

“I used to be a food rider and I had to take a longer route just because the house in the middle had a grill fence. Troubling,” said another user.

“If the reasons are justified, why not?”

In the meantime, some netizens think that it is entirely up to the owner’s decision to do so, as long as he had reached an agreement with the other people who live around him.

“Even better. Less disturbance. I stay in a flat and I have to clean the outside of my house daily because the neighbours trash the place. And it’s not even a small trash bag. Do they think we’re cleaners,” said one user.

“2 sides of a coin. Sometimes we have to know the justification. Yes, it’s wrong but it might be the faeces of the pets of the neighbours, peeping Tom, or disappearing clothes. ”

“I don’t think it’s wrong if other houses agreed. It might be caused by disturbing kids who play and screamed there,” said another.

Do you think that by putting up the fence doors outside his unit, he will trouble the other residents? Let us know in the comments.
