Back in late January, part of the roads in KL had to be closed when people rallied for the “Tangkap Azam Baki” protest and the police were ready on the scene to ban the protestors.

The matter was brought up in the Dewan Negara yesterday (3 March) where Pakatan Harapan’s RSN Rayer commented on the efforts and preparedness of the authorities during the rally.

“I am not blaming PDRM and in fact, I understand that they were merely doing their job,” Rayer assured.

He also highlighted that not only some of the roads in KL were closed but also parts of LRT stations in KL were not functional during the rally. But that is not the reason why Rayer brought up the issue.

Same kind of commitment to the flood victims, perhaps?

As parts of the East Coast, especially Kelantan & Terengganu were hit by flood since last week, Rayer rhetorically questioned if the same kind of efforts were poured into handling the flood victims on the East Coast.

“Just imagine how many lives could be saved if the same efforts were given to the victims. For your record, about 55-59 people had died due to the flood.”

Rayer then continued the asking why do the authorities, in terms of preparedness, only seem to focus on banning the rallies where people want to seek justice and fairness.

“The same level of preparedness could’ve helped the people in Kelantan & Terengganu who are suffering right now due to the flood,” he said.

Siap siaga larang tunjuk perasaan patut diguna hadapi banjir

"Begitu baik kesiapsiagaan diambil untuk melarang pihak tunjuk perasaan. Kalau tahap siap siaga itu diguna ketika banjir, bayangkan berapa nyawa boleh diselamatkan," soal YB Jelutong, RSN Rayer mengenai perhimpunan 'Tangkap Azam Baki'.#AWANInews#DewanRakyat#SisiTVParlimen

How could you predict disaster?

Some of the rakyats seem to disagree with what Rayer had said in the Dewan Negara as they think it is not wise to make a comparison between a rally and a disaster?

“How could he compare between a disaster and a rally? I don’t expect this from an MP and a lawyer.”

“How could we predict disasters, like floods? If we could, all of us would have been ready. That’s the power of nature.”

Do you agree with Rayer’s statement on the similar efforts that could’ve been given to the flood victims?
