Other than the rails, rapid also offers bus services but they are less popular due to the long waiting times in between.

Recently, a netizen by the name of Azlan Sulaiman has shared a tweet that enraged many netizens who are also Rapid Bus users.

In the thread, Azman says that he had witnessed a bus driver being rude to a would-be passenger.

“Many Rapid drivers are very rude. This person ran to catch the bus and reached the door but the driver closed it instead. The bus was not even full.”

Many netizens were angered by this incident that happened at 3.10pm on 9 April on Old Klang Road and they have shared similar personal experiences as well.

“I put 1 foot into the bus and the bus driver closed the door on me. My foot was stuck and he wanted to move. I knocked on the door and he opened up the door, then it closed and started moving. I complained about this incident and there was no reply (other than an automated email).”

“Rapid KL drivers are mostly rude, especially to foreigners. They also drive the bus like they do not want to live till tomorrow and emergency brake until the passengers fall. But there are some who are good as well.”

“Majority of Rapid KL bus drivers have attitude issues. Only a few of them are tolerant. Closing the door when they see a customer running towards the bus is a common occurrence, even though they saw the person running. Please remember that the riders are your customers.”

“Common stuff. I experienced it once as well when I was tired after working at 8pm. I waited an hour for the bus and the bus did not even stop at the bus stop. They saw me waving but did not care. Normally they will stop a little further from the bus stop if they missed it. At that time, I was alone and had to take a Grab to get home.”

“Rapid drivers are mostly like this and they are never on time. there was once when the bus took so long to reach but they stopped at the side of the road to buy breakfast. All the passengers were angry to see that and this always happens.”

Azlan told WORLD OF BUZZ that the investigations are still ongoing. Rapid KL has also mentioned in a statement that they will be looking into this issue.

“Initial investigations using the data from the black box showed that the bus stopped at the bus stop. We will be looking into the footage and talking to the bus captain. ”

“If the bus captain is found guilty, disciplinary actions will be taken.”

As the writer is a regular user of the Rapid Bus, she believes the system definitely needs to be improved. What is your experience with Rapid buses? Let us know in the comments.
