Besides the bustling nightlife, Bangsar is known for its amazing choices of Banana Leaf Rice. Heck, there are a handful of Banana Leaf Rice restaurants to choose from!
However, one restaurant may have suffered a huge dent to their name as a video of the establishment went viral – and to be honest, it’s pretty hard to watch.
In a video that has since gotten over 30k shares in less than 3 hours, it shows a few workers washing the plates by the streets. What was shocking was the sight of these workers using the pooled water on the road to ‘clean’ the plates.
One can only imagine the degree of uncleanliness of these plates, AND having food served on them to the customers!
The video garnered about 890,000 views as of time of writing and netizens were obviously upset that such an incident could even happen in one of Bangsar’s most popular banana leaf joint.
Very shortly after the video was posted, the banana leaf rice restaurant issued a public apology in regards to the issue on Facebook. The post goes:
While some commended the restaurant for owning up to their mistake, many others felt that it’s already too late, especially since good hygiene is absolutely vital in any F&B industry.
Watch the viral video below:
Let’s hope that no such videos will ever surface for other establishments as well.
