Police Chase Ends In Accident After Man Tries To Escape KL Roadblock Check

Two PDRM officers were involved in an accident after chasing a vehicle that tried to escape a police check last night (16 February).

The two officers were identified as Lance Corporal Muhamad Sha’ad Muhamad Sha’id, 28, who sustained injuries in his left hand, and Lance Corporal Muhammad Ramadhan Ghazali, 27, who was uninjured.

According to Harian Metro, both of them work at the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) in the Sentul District Police Headquarters.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkefly Yahya said that the incident took place at 10.20pm at the traffic light junction of Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah – Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim.

The accident involved a Honda Civic police patrol car and a Perodua Myvi which was driven by a 26-year-old woman.

Zulkefly Yahya said the accident happened when the patrol car chased a Volkswagen Golf GTi that was driven by a man that tried to escape from police check.

The patrol car then collided with the Perodua Myvi that came out of the left side of the road.

Zulkefly said the accident resulted in the driver of the patrol car being injured in the left hand while the driver of the Perodua Myvi sustained injuries to the abdomen and was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for treatment.

Meanwhile, the case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
