With the current state of unease in the political world, it’s only fair that Malaysians lack a sense of trust when it comes to our local politicians.

A prime example of this is our former Prime Minister, Najib Razak, considering his involvement in the 1MDB scandal.

Hence, it comes as no surprise that netizens were not entirely happy when current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, met up with Najib to discuss his involvement in reviving our country’s economy.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri shared in a Facebook post,

“Today (7 September) I received a visit from the former Prime Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Najib Razak. In this hour-long meeting, we discussed domestic and foreign economic challenges including strategies to deals with the Covid-19 pandemic.”

He also added that Najib is ready to assist in the next steps towards revitalising our economy.

“Dato’ Sri Najib is committed to contributing his energy, time and ideas to work together as a team for the sake of the beloved Malaysian family,” he said.

Netizens’ respond

However, netizens didn’t seem convinced of his intentions.

This netizen wrote, “Let’s just hope there are no cockles beneath the mee hoon, Pak Long,” insinuating that Najib may have ulterior motives.

This netizen commented, “Is he asking for his case to be dropped?”

Najib 3

This netizen shared, “He asked too right, ‘Can’t you ‘adjust’ my case?'”

While it is understandable that our economy may need all the help it can get, it’s not exactly an easy feeling to allow someone with such a track record to be involved.
