The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to announce the dissolution of Parliament this afternoon.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, Ismail Sabri will be attending the MIC General Assembly at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC) at 2:30pm.

It is unsure on whether the announcement will be made at MITEC or at a separate location.

It is understood that Ismail Sabri had already met with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Sunday afternoon (October 9) to request for the dissolution of Parliament just before his Highness left for London. The trip is to pay a courtesy visit to the King of Britain, King Charles III.

Ismail Sabri is expected to hold a meeting with the UMNO cabinet and the Supreme Working Council (MKT) to inform them that he has received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament, giving way for the General Elections (GE15) to be held in the near future.

Istana Negara will also issue an official statement in regards to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision.

There have been several indicators that GE15 will be held soon, including the Constitution (Amendment) Act (No.3) 2022 (Act A1663) coming into effect on October 5, which prohibits Members of the House of Representatives from changing parties.

Stay tuned for more updates.
