On the 6th of July, the picture of a woman eating at a restaurant being asked to home quarantine went viral. It became worse when the 72-year-old was tested positive for Covid-19 and hospitalised in Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

Just yesterday, a picture of a guy in a similar situation, having a meal in a kopitiam with a pink tag on his wrist went viral. Just when you thought that Malaysians would’ve learned their lesson and just STAY HOME, Facebook group, Malaysian Library posted a series of images of Malaysians that were supposed to be home quarantine but chose not to.

Do these people so intent on grocery shopping even realise that you can get your groceries online?

To avoid such situations repeating, the government has ordered that starting from the 24th July, all returning Malaysians and foreigners will no longer be allowed to home quarantine but instead will be asked to quarantine in government quarantine centres.

If you encountered anyone like this who refuse to be home quarantined, first of all, make sure you’re at least 1m apart from them. Next, inform the authorities to make sure the person is removed from the premises.

To the Malaysians who actually obey home quarantine rules, thank you so much. To those who didn’t, your selfish act might cause us to go back to the Movement Control Order phase. We need to remember that we’re all in this battle against the pandemic together!
