It’s the season of festivities, and one of the many ways to spruce up the “energy” of the festival is by lighting up firecrackers (the right way, of course). Firecrackers, however, can be dangerous if you light them up at the wrong place and wrong time.

A video recently circulated on social media shows a few men lighting up firecrackers on a 3 junction way. The road, however, was not empty at the time. Some drivers were trying to drive through the area but had to slow down when the firecrackers on the ground were lit up. 1 of the men was seen swinging around the firecrackers, while another was seen trying to control the traffic.

A few other motorcyclists stopped by the road and witnessed the “celebration”.

The viral clip, on the other hand, has got the attention of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), who are currently on the hunt for the men in the clip. Police also confirmed that the incident took place in Kuala Sawah, Rantau, Negeri Sembilan on Saturday (November 11) and started to circulate on social media the next day.

A police report was made by the public and the matter is now being investigated under Section 7(a) Explosives Act 1957. If found guilty, suspects may be jailed for up to 7 years or slapped with a fine of RM10,000, or both.

The public was also asked to come forward and provide relevant information to the police. You can watch the viral clip below, which was shared by Buletin TV3 on X.

Festive seasons are meant to be fun but please do it the right way to avoid any unwanted accidents.
