It’s always hard to find parking in KL; if you ever find one, it might cost you an arm and a leg.

Or, when you have found parking, a person will come and direct you into the space but will demand payment after you have come out of the car.

On 27 April, the PDRM Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) conducted an operation named Ops Parkir Haram in 4 different locations: Jalan Beremi, Jalan Tengah, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Panggong.

The operation lasted for 7 hours and the police managed to capture 6 individuals who had been illegally collecting parking money in those 4 areas.

Ops Parkir Haram was initiated through the complaints of members of the public which says that the collection of parking money has increased exponentially by a couple of groups of individuals in the heart of KL.

The 6 who were captured are around 11 to 51 years of age. They have been brought back to the Traffic Police Station KL and will be investigated under section 50(3) of the 1987 Road Transport Act.

At the end of their Facebook post, JSPT KL urges everyone to abide by the rules on the road and to avoid doing unhealthy activities.

They have also expressed their commitment to eradicating wrongdoings and road crimes around KL.
