A video recorded in Klang, Selangor caught the attention of Malaysians recently and even went viral globally, showing a woman smashing her own car’s windshield and window as it was being repossessed.

Now, more information has surfaced regarding the incident, as the Selangor Police Contingent revealed that the three men seen repossessing the car in the video were actually trespassing on the house in which the vehicle was parked.

In a statement issued by the Klang Utara District Police Chief ACP Vijaya Rao A/L Samachulu, it was also revealed that the three Malaysian men seen in the video failed to produce a letter of authorisation from the bank to repossess the car.

Vijaya Rao asserted that the police received a report from the woman regarding the incident at 11.33pm on Tuesday (22 October).

During the incident, the three men had removed the house gate so that they could repossess the car due to overdue payments.

The police said that initial investigation found that the car had an outstanding monthly payment of around six months. However, the three men failed to produce a letter of authorisation from the bank and had trespassed on the house.

The Klang Utara District Police Chief urged the public not to make any misleading speculation about the incident and confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code.
