NRD Urges M’sians to Stop Spreading Fake Photos of Chinese National Getting Mykad
Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara or the National Registration Department (NRD) has issued a statement urging Malaysians to stop spreading false information following images of a China national with a Mykad making its rounds on social media.
Source: Twitter
The image in question witnessed here saw a Mykad issued to a woman from the Fujian province of China, which triggered much anger from netizens who began questioning why such an incident was taking place.
NRD explained that image was, in fact, an old issue which went viral back in 2018 by certain parties wanting to put JPN in a bad light.

According to JPN, “The individual in question is the wife to a Malaysian who had acquired Malaysian nationality in September 2017 under Article 15(1) of the Federal Constitution.”
The statement also adds that the awarding of Malaysian citizenship was never confined to just one particular group of people, stating that NRD has received applications from various other races and ethnic groups.
NRD also gave a stern warning to individuals who spread slander, adding that the viral photo content has caused unneeded confusion and anxiety among the Malaysian public.
We urge Malaysians to fact check anything they intend to post online and stop spreading viral content from negligent parties that could disrupt our nation’s harmony.
