Fragments of an object, suspected of falling from space, were found at the Kampung Tanjung Beach area in Pekan, Pahang.
Berita Harian quoted Pekan District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin, as saying that his department received a report on the discovery from officers of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) at approximately 5 PM on Wednesday (31 December 2025).

Based on initial investigations by MOSTI, the object is suspected to have fallen into the sea and washed up on shore by the current. The fragment, which was 4.26 metres long and 3.64 metres wide, with an estimated weight of 500kg, had barnacles attached to it.
Mohd Zaidi stated, “The Space Authority Division, MOSTI, the Malaysian Atomic Energy Department and the Malaysian Space Agency have investigated the discovery of the object. The results of the investigation and tests carried out by the agencies involved confirmed that the object is free of any radiation.”
“Officers from the agencies involved have also temporarily transferred the object to the Nenasi Police Station,” he added.


Moreover, anyone who stumbles upon fragments of such objects has been asked to contact the authorities for further action.
Similar incidents in the past
Prior to this, 3 Chinese satellites had fallen to Earth between 2018 and 2022, where fragments were reported to have been found in several locations, including the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean.
The fragments of the satellites were also found floating in the waters of Sarawak and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
