The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) has launched a campaign urging the Attorney-General’s Chambers to reopen the corruption and abuse of power cases involving Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO President Dato’ Seri Zahid Hamidi.

Through the #ReProsecuteZahid campaign, MUDA is calling for Zahid to face trial in court once again.

“It’s for every M’sian who deserves to know the truth”

In a statement, MUDA also highlighted that its Secretary-General, Ainie Haziqah, had received a Letter of Demand (LOD) from Zahid Hamidi’s lawyer following her speech at the recent ‘Turun Anwar’ rally.

Meanwhile, the party’s acting president, Amira Aisya, said in a video that the campaign represents all Malaysians who want to know why top government figures seem to escape accountability so easily.

“This isn’t just MUDA’s campaign; it’s for every Malaysian who deserves to know the truth. A campaign to show how those at the very top can walk away without consequences. We’re taking this opportunity to launch the #ReProsecuteZahid campaign,” she said.

She added that Zahid’s move to single out Ainie with the LOD is nothing more than an intimidation tactic.

“Why is Ainie Haziqah the only one receiving a letter of demand? This is Zahid Hamidi’s way of trying to scare people. That’s why MUDA will not take this lightly, and we will not give in to fear, whether it’s used against politicians or ordinary citizens.”

“They would do anything to prove that they are clean”

Amira also questioned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s fight against corruption, asking if it was selective, while pointing out that Zahid, “who has always stood by his side”, is someone “at the apex of power.”

“Anwar Ibrahim said he wanted to fight corruption, but is his fight selective or two-faced? In the end, his close ally, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister at the apex of power, was let off from corruption charges without being acquitted,” she said.

She added that those at the apex of power have the highest responsibility to prove they are clean.

“But in the end, Zahid Hamidi’s case was just left hanging.”
