In a recent video shared by @adameji7 that’s been circulating online, unhappy workers from a 5-star hotel are seen holding picket signs as they protest against the hotel.

The video shows that the protest took place right outside the hotel on December 10, with staff holding up signs to express frustration over their salaries.

“Pay your workers!”

Based on the video, some employees were protesting allegedly due to not being paid, while others were demanding a salary increase.

One of the picket signs at the protest drew attention to the fact that some staff members have dedicated 10 years of service to the hotel, yet despite their long-term commitment, their salaries have remained stagnant with no increase whatsoever.

Another sign labelled the hotel as “traitors,” expressing strong dissatisfaction and calling for immediate action, demanding that the hotel pay its workers.

The post’s caption reads:

“There’s a protest happening in front of the hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It’s about workers’ salaries, according to them.”

Netizens started flooding the comment section with their thoughts on the situation.

“Shame on them for not paying its workers.”

“We went through this from 2010 to 2014, when the government made a salary adjustment, but the hotel still refused to pay. The union fought for it and managed to get it back. Some even received tens of thousands after that.”

“The hotel has such a prestigious name and charges sky-high prices, yet the workers’ salaries remain unpaid. They rake in so much money but exploit their staff. This is really bad.”

“A foreign company is causing trouble, yet no action is being taken, just like with the GISBH case. Not only are salaries not being paid, but EPF and SOCSO contributions are also being neglected.”

“I used to work in hotels, and honestly, a lot of them are unfair to their employees, especially the foreign brands.”
