Motorsports fans and enthusiasts, this could be your chance to experience Formula 1 from a completely different perspective.
Following the exciting announcement that Formula 1 will return to the Petronas Sepang International Circuit for the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix from 2 to 4 October 2026, applications are now open for Malaysians to join the event as volunteers.
Organised by the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the initiative offers local youth the opportunity to get involved behind the scenes and experience what it takes to bring a world-class motorsport event to life.
However, spots are strictly limited, with only 500 volunteer positions available.
What will volunteers be doing?
Selected volunteers will be stationed at different areas around the circuit, helping with various aspects of the event’s operations.
Their responsibilities will include:
- Customer Service
- Ticketing & Entry Management
- Relations & Hospitality
- MADANI Area Management
Through these roles, volunteers will get a behind-the-scenes look at how a major international motorsport event is run, while gaining hands-on experience in managing crowds and interacting with visitors from different backgrounds.
For young Malaysians interested in motorsports, events, hospitality or customer service, this could be a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience while being part of a major international event.
Who can apply?
Applicants must meet several requirements to be eligible:
- Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, in good health and free from chronic or infectious illnesses.
- Disciplined, adaptable, trustworthy and able to work in a team.
- Have good communication skills, with proficiency in English or other foreign languages considered an added advantage.
Accommodation and transport are not provided
Before applying, there’s one important thing potential volunteers should take note of: accommodation and transport will not be provided.
Volunteers will need to arrange and cover their own travel and accommodation expenses for the event.

Applications officially opened on 2 September 2026. Interested Malaysians can register online through the official MyProfil portal.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email or phone with further details and briefing information. With only 500 spots available, motorsports fans hoping to experience F1 behind the scenes may want to apply early.
