We’ve seen government higher ups and VVIP being escorted past traffic jams and stop lights, while us regular folks spend hours a day stuck in traffic.

But, are State Government officials allowed to break road rules, especially without a PDRM escort?

The 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page recently shared a video showcasing a car, allegedly belonging to a Johor State Government official, using the side of the road to avoid a traffic jam in the form of a long line of cars.

They wrote, “VVIP (Johor Exco) does not need to follow the rules.”

In the video, the Toyota Camry, allegedly belonging to the government official, could be seen using the side of the road to squeeze between cars parked by the road side and car in the traffic jam in order to get ahead.

Netizens have since taken to social media to share their anger over the situation, with many believing that such situations shouldn’t be allowed.

Exco 4

“PDRM, don’t close your eyes.”

Exco 3

“(Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi), please monitor the driver of this Exco vehicle. Can they do that? I hope Datuk Menteri Besar will pay attention.”

Exco 1

“If this is the case, what is the use of having laws?”

Exco 2

“So, government officials can do this? Are there no laws? The government should know the laws better. You are also human, just because you have rank doesn’t mean you can endanger the lives of the people like this. Even if you die, you’ll be planted into the ground next to regular folks.”
