M’sians Are Amused by This CNY Ad Inspired by Stephen Chow & We Totally See Why!

For us, Chinese New Year isn’t just about spending time with family and friends and ringing in the new year – it’s also about watching the newest ads! ? And this time, we found a wacky new local CNY ad that’s inspired by the king of comedy himself, Stephen Chow.

Kung fu soccer to start the new year with

This new CNY ad from Aiken stars local influencers like Jayden Chong, Suzanne Lay, Christine Yeoh and Jia Song, settling a dispute in a football showdown that looks very familiar to fellow Malaysians. ?

It’s impossible not to see the ad’s uncanny resemblance to a Stephen Chow classic, but we appreciate Aiken’s attempt to capture its eccentricity while promoting their Aiken Vita-C Exfoliating Water & Serum. ? They even tried reaching out to Stephen Chow on Instagram to invite him to watch it!

The open letter that Aiken Malaysia posted on Instagram.

Most CNY ads tend to be sentimental or festive, so it’s nice to see this skincare brand churning an ad that’s this zany and out-of-the-box – it looks like we aren’t the only ones who think that way!

A brighter start to 2023A

While the CNY ad ticked all the right boxes and sets them apart from the competition, the real reason Aiken started this campaign is to empower Malaysians everywhere to be the brightest stars in 2024. Not only do they wanna help everyone maintain a good skincare routine, but to also find happiness and enjoyment in having bright and beautiful skin.

And the centrepiece of it all is the Aiken Vita-C Exfoliating Water & Serum that was shown throughout the ad. Formulated with Advanced Vitamin C from Japan and Tea Tree Oil from Australia, it’s been scientifically proven to brighten skin tones and lighten pimple marks, while keeping your skin healthy with 65x more Vitamin C – perfect for those who want a simple but effective skincare routine!

And to spread even more brightness for the new year, Aiken is inviting Malaysians to recreate scenes from their quirky ad and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #AikenBrightestStar – might as well join in the fun kan?

Shine brighter together!
