A random photo of a road in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah has caught the attention of Malaysians recently and went viral on Facebook due to its rather peculiar design.

Shared by Facebook user Fariz Dzin Proton Sabah on the social media platform, the post has garnered over 1,700 reactions and more than 1,100 shares as of the time of writing.

A super small speed bump that looks out of place

Aaa

In the post, Fariz Dzin shared a photo of a road at Pavilion Bundusan in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from inside a vehicle.

Interestingly, the road, which looks to be a one-way street between 2 rows of shopping lots had a peculiar speed bump which looks rather out of place.

1stly, the speed bump is super short and wouldn’t even cover the width of a standard car. Furthermore, it covers only a small section in the middle of the road and is located right before a manhole.

In the caption of the post, Fariz Dzin asserted,

“I don’t understand, why they put just sekelumit (small) speed bump there…”

Malaysians were amused by the speed bump and offered their theories on why it was there

In the comments section, many Malaysians, especially Sabahans were amused by the sight of the tiny speed bump and offered their theories on its purposes on the road.

One commenter joked that it’s not a speed bump but actually a roundabout and asked others to observe it more intently.

Meanwhile, another jokester said that maybe the contractor who set up the speed bump only had a “Rahmah” budget, referring to the government initiative of offering items at cheaper prices.

Besides that, one Malaysian claimed that the speed bump is there to deter road users from double parking in the area and to make them slow down before going through the manhole. However, Faris Dzin said the former wouldn’t be the case, as there are still many people who double parked there.

Another commenter offered the theory that maybe the speed bump is meant only for motorcyclists given its small width.

So, what do you guys think of the super small speed bump and why it was made that way? Share your thoughts and theories with us in the comments!
