A recent post has gone viral after a social media user shared an experience she had while walking home in Bangsar.

In a Threads post by @noturregularacc, she recounted how, while walking along Telawi in Bangsar at around 11 PM, a stranger came up to her and offered to walk her home.

M’sian woman approached by stranger in Bangsar who asked if she was a virgin

According to her post, the man initially showered her with compliments about her youthful appearance and then began asking if she lived alone.

Things took an increasingly uncomfortable turn when the conversation shifted, as she alleged he began asking if she was a virgin.

“He commented on how young I looked and that I was pretty, then immediately asked if he could follow me or walk me home and whether I lived alone. After that, he asked if I wanted to ‘have some fun.’ When I said no, he asked, ‘Why? Are you still a virgin?’ and then repeated, ‘Are you a virgin?'” she wrote.

In a video shared in her post, the man could be heard asking if he could hug and kiss her.

“He later asked, ‘Can I just hug and kiss you then?’ and kept insisting, asking multiple times even though my first no should have been enough.

“I was scared to go back home and worried that he might follow me. It’s upsetting and frightening to think about what could have happened if there had been no one around and I was completely alone, instead of being in a relatively open area,” she wrote.

“Silence only puts more women at risk”

Fearing for her safety, noturregularacc later explained that the man even tried to convince her he wouldn’t harm her and kept insisting on walking her home.

“He tried to convince me by saying he wouldn’t harm me. He eventually left me alone, but I’m sharing this so others can stay aware and careful. Even though he left me alone in the end, it might not be the same for someone else,” she explained.

When asked about the incident, she told WORLD OF BUZZ that she plans to file a police report as soon as possible.

“My advice is for us to look out for one another and stop brushing this behaviour aside. When people know their actions can be recorded and spoken about, it creates accountability and makes them think twice before crossing boundaries. This is the only way we can move closer to a safer community.”
