M’sian Wholesale Vendors Give Out 10 Tonnes of Free Vegetables To Kuantan Residents During MCO

This is really great, wholesome news!
According to Sinar, 10 tonnes of free vegetables were given to Kuantan residents living in low-cost residential areas!
It was reported that 53 wholesale vendors have banded together to supply 10 tonnes of free vegetables to Kuantan residents. They have separated the vegetables that they have into 5,000 different 2kg bags and they made sure that all of the bags have different varieties of vegetables.
The vegetables were put into bags this morning at the Kuantan wholesale market and they were then distributed to the residents of low-cost residential areas in Kuantan.
One of the wholesale vendors, Mr. Heng, 42 said that by bringing the vegetables to the people, it can help minimise the movement of people. He also says,
“These vegetables can be kept for 1 week and in that bag, there are potatoes, tomatoes, sawi, kangkung, cabbage, carrots and kailan.”
He said that they got the vegetables from local farmers and Cameron Highlands farmers. Meanwhile, the residents in Kuantan were very thankful.
Alias Mohd Isa, 42 says that by getting the bag of vegetables for free, it has definitely helped to lighten the burden of people affected by this Covid-19 outbreak. Esah Abu Lah, 70, has expressed his gratefulness and said,
“This charitable effort should be continued so that the burden of the low-income group can be lightened.
It is also very heartwarming that the vendors in charge of this did not only give it to a certain race but to everyone without taking count of religion and skin colour.”
This is certainly a very good movement and we would like to thank the wholesale vendors for thinking of the people most affected by this Movement Control Order!
Meanwhile, for the rest of us citizens, we should abide by the Movement Control Order and practice social distancing religiously! If you are unclear about the order then you can call the hotline @ 03-88882010.
