While travelling the world is often a good opportunity to expand one’s mind as it pertains to culture and scenery, the very same can be said for those who come across Malaysians in these journeys, and have the chance to interact with us.

A recent TikTok clip has been delighting individuals all across the world after video and content creator Yuji Beleza interacted with a few Malaysians on the streets of Vienna, Austria, where he resides. Most known for creating videos around his hometown and sharing them to his page @beleza_yuji, the influencer had a lovely surprise by learning a few things from the Malaysians he approached.

At the beginning of the clip, Yuji asked the group of girls where they were from. After saying they were from Malaysia, he proceeded to ask them if they could speak the national language, and if they’d teach him a few words.

When he asked them how to say “How are you?” in the Malay language, to which the girls stated “Apa khabar?“, Yuji initially said it was Indonesian, before the girls explained how the two countries share similarities in our native languages.

Towards the latter part of the clip, Yuji, who is part Irish and Japanese, said that he was from Japan, which thrilled one of the girls in the group as she can speak Japanese. For a momentary instance, the Malaysian  girl conversed with Yuji in Japanese, with the influencer even jokingly telling her that he “loves her”.

At the end of the clip, Yuji wished the travellers “Apa khabar” before waving goodbye to them.

Garnering a captivating response online, many people in the comments section, both from Malaysia and beyond, stated how sweet the girls were, adding that they are wonderful representations of how polite locals are even when we go overseas.

“They are so sweet, hopefully they have a good time in Vienna!” wrote one user.

Nevertheless, multiple people couldn’t help but make jests in the comment section, saying that Yuji could also say “Dah makan ke?” or “Sihat ke?” as a form of greeting to Malaysians, which means asking if someone had eaten yet or if they feel well, respectively.

Malaysian manners are simply unmatched. Here’s hoping that Yuji remembers all the words taught to him by our fellow people!
