M’sian Special Needs Students Wins International Storytelling Competition Held In Australia

2 special needs students from Kolej Vokasional Keningau have emerged as the champions of a storytelling competition that was part of an online art festival in Australia.

The duo submitted a video of a story titled “John and the witch” in the category of illustrated storytelling for the Under The Skies Of Australia festival competition, organised by the EAFF.

Vocational College Special Needs Students Win

Nurosimah Jumat who has vision difficulties and Brenda Ashley who has learning difficulties were behind the winning entry, reported Sabah Post.

The story was created by selecting random picture cards and from then on, they created a storyline out of it. They spoke in Malay for the video but English subtitles were attached.

Nurosimah Jumat and Brenda Ashley are students in the clothing-making stream at the vocational college. The director, Christine Stanislaus Kinsik is very proud of both of them and says that diligence in learning new skills will open up more opportunities for special needs kids.
