An underappreciated yet thoroughly important job, many people may not be aware of the fact that school teachers often act as second parents to students, in guiding them and moulding their future. A recent Facebook video is showing, however, that the relationships formed between teachers and their students can sometimes simply be unmatched, one filled with pure care and generosity.

English and Physical Education teacher Sivva Suthan Kumaran recently shared a reel of himself and a few of his Year 6 kids to his Facebook page, in what seemed to be a very emotional exchange between the educator and the group. In the video, Sivva explained that he was giving hugs to his students, as they were in the process of departing from the school he currently teaches at, to move to a secondary school.

Filled with tears from both parties, many of the children hugged their teacher and cried with him. Embellishing in the caption of his post, Sivva stated that he has a particularly close relationship with these kids, as he also acts as the warden for their school.

“We wake up at the same time, eat at the same time, play at the same time. My life with these kids will be a cherished memory forever. Thank you, kids, sir will miss you all,” wrote Sivva in the caption of his post.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Sivva stated that he has been working in this school, which is located in Perlis, for about three years now. Just a year into his tenure, Sivva said that he was offered the additional role of school warden by his headmaster.

Originally hesitant to take on the role, Sivva mentioned that he eventually grew to enjoy his time with the kids, as his school requires children to stay on campus. As a result, Sivva did almost everything with them from the second they woke in the morning until they went to sleep at night.

With most of his students coming from underprivileged backgrounds, Sivva said that he tried his best to support them as best as he could, both emotionally and financially. Developing a deep bond with each of them, Sivva added that this farewell was exceptional, as he was part of their lives for a long time.

“I really accepted them as part of my life. After more than a year, my Year 6 kids are about to leave the school. Raising my kids as their ‘parent’, in front of my eyes. But seeing them now, stepping into another part of their life, I’m really going to miss them a lot,” he added to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Receiving significant praise online, many users commented on how sad it must be for Sivva, and teachers in general, to have to say goodbye to students whom they practically watched grow up.

Others also spoke on what a good example Sivva must be for the kids, both as a teacher and warden, to elicit such an emotion out of them.

A second parent to some students, but a role model to many. May all teachers be blessed for their dedication to all the students they have inspired.
