M’sian Mother Warns Smokers to Stop Holding Babies After Baby Suffers Infection

Smoking has always been widely acknowledged as a bad habit and everyone knows that it is harmful for our health. However, this frustrated mother recently posted on Facebook about her poor baby suffering from the effects of cigarette smoke even when the person was not smoking at that time.

She said, “If you want to smoke that is your decision but please, do not carry a baby right after you do so as the residual smoke from your breath can harm the baby. When the baby falls sick as a result, the ones who suffer are the parents. Don’t blame us, the parents, if we don’t allow you to carry or hug the baby because you have to understand that we don’t want our child to get sick.”

Apparently, her child had fallen victim to such an incident and that was why she posted the status on Facebook to share about how smokers who have just taken a puff can harm a baby.

She wrote, “My child was rushed to the hospital at 1.30am and had to be admitted because of a high fever and difficulty in breathing. The doctor had to take X-rays of my baby, draw the baby’s blood and give oxygen twice to ensure that my baby would be safe. After some careful examination, the doctor confirmed that my baby was suffering from an infection due to the bacteria from cigarette smoke.”

Her FB post went viral with more than 7,000 shares since she posted it to warn other parents so that their baby would not suffer the same fate as her child. Several other parents commented saying that this was not the first time they have heard of such cases happening.

Many of them also tagged other people and encouraged them to stop smoking as well as to be careful of their cigarette smoke as it can affect other innocent lives.

Perhaps it’s time to think about kicking the habit, people!
