A while ago, some of you may remember the horrific video of a local man who was seen cruelly dragging what appears to be a disabled dog, who couldn’t walk on its hind legs, on a hot road. The incident, which was caught on camera and shared over social media, spread like wildfire, with many netizens condemning the actions of the man, calling for justice.

The dog in the video was reported to have been successfully saved by the person who was filming the entire incident, after they paid the man money to buy the dog off him. But what happened to the culprit himself?

Animal Malaysia menanti laporan saksi utama.#dvs #perhilitan #pbt #animals #stray #wildlife #wild #wildanimals #dogs #cats #strayanimals #saveouranimals #cruelty #animalcruelty #saveourstray #feeder #animalfeeder #law #justice #voice #advocacy #animallaw #animaladvocacy #animalvoice #animaljustice #malaysiaanimals #animalmalaysia #malaysiaanimalassociation#aktakebajikanhaiwan2015 #aktapemuliharaanhidupanliar2010

Well, it would appear that the law has finally caught up with him, and the 51-year-old man has finally been charged for causing harm to the poor dog in Kota Bahru. According to animal activist group Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia, he was charged in court last Sunday (7th June 2020) according to Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

Presently, he faces a RM 25,000 fine, or a jail term of four months upon failure of paying off the fine.

The man pleaded guilty to the charge that was read out to him in court, reports Sinar Harian.

We hope that this serves as a valuable lesson to the man, and hope that he will never commit such horrific acts of animal cruelty again.
