Apart from being able to eat amazing food and visit family members, one of the other reasons why we’re so excited when it comes to Hari Raya is because of the new and fresh Raya clothes we get to wear.

When it comes to baju raya, families will often coordinate their clothes to be in a single colour or follow a specific theme.

Recently, a post by Twitter user Aina Mardhia went viral after she had shared that her family have been making their very own matching raya clothes almost every year without fail!

Her post reads, “I think my family deserves some recognition for making baju raya every year without fail since the 90s (except 2020 because we’re stranded somewhere else).

She went on to share several years worth of pictures of her family wearing colour matching baju raya including all black, green, yellow, blue, red and even matching ones in conjunction with the 2014 football World Cup!

How it started

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Aina said that the inspiration came about as both her parents had learnt how to sow. “In the beginning, it was my mother who had basic knowledge of tailoring. Then, my father learned through my mother. So, both of them made our outfits until it was time for us to learn about it,” she said.

“Technically, it’s still both of my parents who make them, we help whenever they’re busy. We start making them during Ramadan.”

She shared that the ideas for the colour schemes and themes come randomly. “Sometimes we just go with the flow and see what fits depending on the type of fabric or the pattern of the fabrics we use. We contribute our ideas together.”

M’sians love the dedication!

The pictures of her family in matching baju raya went viral on Twitter with the post garnering over 14,300 likes and 4,033 shares at the time of writing.

Netizens took to the comments section to praise Aina and her family’s dedication in making a special outfit ever year.

“This is too cute! Especially when many other families don’t share the same taste in design and colours,” commented one user.
