Malaysian cricketer Syazrul Ezat Idrus made our country proud recently after setting a new world record for best figures in a Men’s T20 match.

The record was set during the Malaysian team’s opening game of the T20 World Cup Asia B qualifier against China at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (26 July).

The 32-year-old becomes the first bowler to claim 7 wickets in a men’s T20 match, beating Nigeria’s Peter Aho’s record against Sierra Leone in 2021.

With his incredible performance, Syazrul helped Malaysia record an 8-wicket win over China. Previously in 2020, the Malaysian cricketer also made headlines when he was awarded the top 5 wicket-tacker in the world.

His achievement drew praise from Malaysians from all walks of life, including from Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh. Taking to Twitter, Yeoh lauded Syazrul’s amazing feat and congratulated him for making our country proud.
